Multiline P&C insurer The Hartford is using Tractable's artificial-intelligence platform to analyze damage to cars.

Tractable's computer-vision offering can appraise user-submitted photos for most claims, the companies say. The goal is to reduce claim cycle time by getting repairs started faster.

Digital Insurance was not able to reach The Hartford for comment by publication time. Like many large insurers, the company is working with several insurtechs on digitalizing its processes. In August 2020, it tapped Carpe Data to add more third-party data to its agents' quoting processes. A year before, it signed Cape Analytics to provide AI and geospatial imagery for property intelligence.

Tractable, which was founded in 2015, also counts MS&AD and Tokio Marine among its clients. It has raised more than $50 million. Its last round was a $27 million Series C in March 2020.
