Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America installs new chairman

At its fall leadership conference in Indianapolis, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big "I"), installed Todd Jackson, owner and partner of the Indianapolis-based firm, McGowan Insurance Group, as its 2024-2025 chairman.

Jackson has served the organization at both the state and national levels and has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He previously served on the Big "I" Indiana Board of Directors and was the state president in 2013. Jackson also represented Indiana on the Big "I" national board of directors and was elected to the national Executive Committee in 2018.

Big "I" President and CEO Charles Symington shared in a press release, "Todd's dedication to the independent agency channel and to Big 'I' members shines through in the numerous ways he's already served the association and in his continued passion for giving back to the independent agency system. We're grateful for his leadership as the Big 'I' continues to evolve its technology and programs to provide members with the tools they need to succeed in the hard market and beyond."

Jackson will focus the organization's member benefits, which will include prioritizing programs that deliver significant value, as well as addressing operational efficiencies overall. "I am committed to working together to overcome our biggest challenges," he said in a statement. "And I am committed to continuing the free and open exchange of ideas with our state leaders to make the Big 'I' better for our members."

In addition to Jackson, several other individuals were installed including Lou Moran III, president of Inter-Agency Insurance Service in Knoxville, Tenn., as chairman-elect and Angela Ripley, president of VW Brown Insurance Services in Columbia, Md., as the 2024-2025 vice chair. Mike McBride, president of Mason-McBride in Troy, Mich., who Jackson succeeds as chairman, will remain on the Big "I" Executive Committee as immediate past chair.
