USAA Life announced a partnership with Human API, a health data platform, to further digitize the life insurance buying process.

Through Human API's Health Intelligence Platform, which includes a patient portal network and HIPAA-authorized networks, USAA will have access to its members' digital health data to improve the experience and make the buying process simpler and faster, according to the press release.

"Human API's platform further expands our ability to provide our members the best experience buying life insurance," said Chris Flint, senior vice president and general manager, life insurance at USAA Life, in a statement. "We were the first company to use digital health data and are continually looking for ways to improve our processes—including increasing the percentage of medical records we can receive digitally, which cuts down on the time that it takes to get life insurance coverage."

The partnership is a part of an effort at USAA Life to automate its underwriting process.

"We are thrilled to be working with USAA. Human API is excited to assist USAA in continuing to deliver the best in services and experience to their members and we look forward to helping USAA power the future of digital health data and underwriting automation," said Andrei Pop, CEO of Human API, in a statement.
