CCC, a SaaS platform for P&C insurers, has released several artificial intelligence focused tools in the last few weeks.
The Recovery Assistant app, which accelerates third-party claims resolutions by creating a mobile channel to quickly capture and speed up communication with a policyholder and the CCC Estimate-STP, which uses AI to automatically offer line level estimates from photos.
USAA collaborated with CCC on the Recovery Assistant and is currently deploying the service and the CCC Estimate - STP.
“As consumer demand for all things digital grows, our ability to reach members and third-party claimants digitally becomes increasingly important,” said Sean Burgess, USAA chief claims officer, in a statement. “We were happy to work with CCC to help bring this capability to life and we are energized by the early results realized through CCC’s Recovery Assistant.”
Barrett Callaghan, executive vice president of markets and customer success at CCC, said the company is on a journey to digitize the entire insurance experience.
“We’ve focused on the auto repair segment specifically with a whole series of mobile solutions,” Callaghan said. “It became apparent that there was a natural use case to solve digitization in the casualty segment, in recovery with third-party claims--claimants who have had an injury related to an auto accident and to which they have bills for.”
These third-party claims include lower complexity and lower severity claims like single doctor visits or a few physical therapy appointments. The Recovery Assistant enables a faster and digital experience to allow claimants to submit bills directly to insurers.
The CCC Estimate - STP generates estimates for repairable claims and includes actionable estimates like parts, labor operations, hours and taxes. It is configurable by insurers and includes eligibility thresholds and desired policyholder communication experience. The service is being used by four insurers, including USAA.
Callaghan said in the coming months, CCC anticipates more insurance customers to use the tool as the industry moves to a touchless estimating experience in their claims process.
Amica Mutual Insurance Company is also using CCC’s products across its claims lifecycle to provide policyholders and its staff a digital channel from the beginning of the accident to its resolution.
“Amica has built its reputation by delivering exceptional claims experiences to our customers," Hank Huling, assistant vice president at Amica, said in a statement. “By embracing innovation, we continue to advance this commitment and grow our business. CCC's proven AI and technology platform will play a central role in elevating and accelerating decision-making across the claims process, and we're excited to put these technologies to work for our policyholders."
