The Hartford has appointed Bruce Shuman as chief digital and customer experience officer, a newly created role.
Shuman returns to the Connecticut-based insurer after five years as vice president of e-business at Travelers. During his first stint with the carrier, he led digital teams in personal lines and enterprise marketing, in the same role.

The insurance veteran will now lead The Hartford’s efforts to design, build, and manage digital experiences for customer and distribution partners. He reports to Kathy Bromage, The Hartford’s chief marketing and communications officer.
“Customer expectations today are at an all-time high when it comes to service and the digital experience, and it is imperative that companies maximize those interactions,” said Bromage, in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome Bruce back to The Hartford; his deep knowledge of the digital marketplace, the insurance industry, and our business will position us well for success.”
