Pendella’s recommendation engine can evaluate potential policyholders by including factors beyond the conventional characteristics that are used. Simploy did not see this as a bias testing issue.
“There’s some ‘knockout’ questions, when an employee goes to see if an insurance is something they qualify for,” says Smith. The Pendella services Simploy uses “has some knockout questions, that when an employee or anybody in that matter goes in to see if it's something that they qualify for, it's only going to show them what they are eligible for, based upon those knockout questions in the beginning. The product won’t show them something that gets their hopes up but at the end of the day, they can’t have.”
