Marsh has appointed Sastry Durvasula as its first chief digital officer, the insurance broker announced.
In his new role, Durvasula will also take on the responsibilities of chief data & analytics officer, beginning on Aug. 14, Marsh says. He comes to the company by way of American Express after 15 years of service, most recently as enterprise head of data and digital technology for the lender. He will report to John Drzik, president of global risk & specialties.
“Sastry brings a superior in-depth knowledge of digital technologies—including big data, blockchain, and artificial intelligence—and a proven track record of leading enterprise transformation at scale,” Drzik said, in a statement.
Based in Phoenix, Sastry’s duties as CDO include leading the design and delivery of Marsh’s data & analytics and client-facing technology across the firm’s global business. He will also oversee Marsh ClearSight—the organization’s risk, safety, and claims management software.
“We’re delighted that Sastry is joining us to develop Marsh’s global digital strategy and help us harness technology, data and analytics to benefit our clients, carrier partners and colleagues,” said Drzik.
