Research from Digital Insurance, conducted during January and February 2025, reveals deeper insights into how insurance companies are currently addressing or planning to address employee skill gaps and talent challenges in the insurance industry.
More than half, 55%, of department heads or directors say that their department is at least somewhat understaffed, and 22% of respondents say that the overall skill level of most employees in their department is below what is required of their respective roles. However, 57% say that the overall skill level of their employees has improved in the last two to three years.
When asked if the company is taking any actions to address department skill gaps, Digital Insurance found that insurance carriers are more likely to train and upskill existing employees or hire new talent with needed skills than other means to address talent challenges.
