American Family Insurance confirmed a cyberattack last week. The company said it has not detected any compromises to critical business or customer data processing.
A spokesperson for the insurer said in a statement: "Last week, the technology teams at American Family Insurance detected unusual activity in a portion of our network. We have now confirmed we experienced a cyberattack from outside our company.
"Once discovered, we quickly took precautionary measures to protect data and resources and we shut down several business systems. While this disruption has caused access issues for customers, employees and agents, we believe this decision was vital to protecting data."
The insurer is currently bringing systems back online and is continuing its investigation into the incident.
