Buckle, an insurtech agency for gig-economy drivers, has selected Cambridge Mobile Telematics’ DriveWell telematics platform, the companies announced. Use of the DriveWell score is optional, but comes with a discount at signup with more discounts available. It measures harsh acceleration, braking or swerving, speeding, and phone use. The partnership launched in Maryland and Nevada this month.


Mercury Insurance is subsidizing the cost of smart-home water monitoring devices from the manufacturer Flume, the companies said in a news release. The Flume system works with a water meter to help users monitor indoor and outdoor leaks via mobile app. "Small leaks in your home's pipes and irrigation system can result in an incredible amount of wasted water," said Mercury Insurance Product Manager for California, Adam Bakonis, in a statement. "Water leaks are preventable and the key is catching them early to minimize the damage.” Mercury policyholders get a $99 instant rebate on their Flume purchase, with another $25 after installing it.
MetLife Pet Insurance is introducing rewards program powered by LifeBalance, a discount network for employees and health plan members, the companies announced. The MyPets rewards program provides discounts on pet care purchases including pet sitters and monthly pet supply subscriptions. Policyholders can redeem up to five rewards per calendar year.

Spot, an insurtech providing on-demand injury insurance, has partnered with Ikon Pass, a multi-resort ski and snowboarding season pass, the companies said via news release. Certain passholders will get access to Spot's policy for up to $25,000 toward any medical bill. Spot will also refund all or part of an passholder's price if they are injured or otherwise unable to take advantage of their full season on the mountain.


Munich Re America has approved Netradyne’s Driver-I driver and fleet safety platform for its commercial fleet clients, the company announced. Netradyne's AI-enabled camera system works with Munich Re’s LossDetect software, which evaluates an insured's losses. The system can assess speed, traffic sign compliance, following distance, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and much more. "Netradyne is a natural fit for our Smart Mobility Program as it delivers fleet safety technology that is focused on helping fleets reduce risk, improve driver performance, and strengthen their coaching programs," said Bruce Weisgerber, Smart Mobility Leader for Munich Re, in a statement. "Also, the superior clarity of the cameras can provide indisputable evidence for settling claims."
