MetLife names new CIO for Latin America; other insurtech people news

Giovanni Genovesi is joining MetLife as CIO for Latin America. He last was at Swiss Re, where he was Latin America technology director and digital transformation leader. Genovesi also has worked at Zurick. He reports to regional president Eric Clurfain and corporate EVP and CIO Pawan Verma. Alex Seidita, who had held the role, will now lead data operations and shared services for MetLife globally.

Alliance Group has appointed Mark Powell Chief Strategy Officer, with responsibility for digital transformation within the insurance marketing organization. Powell’s history at Cigna, Home Depot, Nationwide, and Blackstone Group leading technology implementations was cited in the announcement. Andrea Buffo also was promoted to VP of operations. Both report to CEO Lee Powell.

Corvus Insurance has hired Oliver Delvos as head of international. The former Zurich global cyber underwriter will start in his new role this summer. Corvus is an insurtech offering cyberinsurance, E&O, and cargo coverage to businesses.
