MetLife names two international CIOs: Insurtech career moves

MetLife continues a spate of digital hires with a new CIO for Asia, the company announced. Siew Choo, based in Hong Kong, last worked at DBS Bank, where she was managing director and head of technology with responsibility for consumer banking, big data and AI. She reports to Kishore Ponnavolu, Asia regional president, as well as MetLife global CIO Pawan Verma.
MetLife named a new CIO for Latin America last month.
Its data organization was also recently expanded.
Cowbell Cyber said it has hired Kara Owens as chief information officer. In a media release, the insurtech says she will "oversee reinsurance partnerships, risk and portfolio management and drive new product development and innovation." She last was global executive underwriting officer for cyber and ESG at Markel, and also been global head of cyber at TransRe and senior risk analyst at Guy Carpenter.
Overhaul, an Austin-based startup for supply chain risk management, has added David Braunstein as General Manager of insurtech, the company announced. Braunstein will oversee Overhaul's insurtech division, looking for opportunities for the company's tech in the insurance sector. He last was president for Together for Safer Roads; he aso worked at IBM as an Industry Innovation Lead with retail and insurance clients.
