John Hancock names head of insurance

John Hancock and its parent company Manulife announced Hector Martinez as its new head of insurance. Martinez was previously with Equitable, leading individual life insurance, new business development, underwriting and life insurance product development and distribution. He also held several leadership positions at Crump Life Insurance Services. 

Brooks Tingle, president and CEO, John Hancock, said in a statement: "When it came to finding a new leader for our insurance business, it was essential that the person have the right combination of industry experience and acumen alongside a proven track record of innovation. As we grow our business, deliver on our digital ambitions, and help our customers live longer, healthier, better lives, we know Hector will champion future-forward thinking that will help us further reshape and digitize our business and our industry."

Markel names new chief actuarial officer

Markel announced Rob Cole as its chief actuarial officer. Cole joins the company from AIG, where he was most recently chief actuary, global pricing. Cole succeeds Ron Herrig, who is retiring at the end of the year. 

Brian Costanzo, CFO at Markel, said in a statement: "We are excited to have Rob join the Markel team. He has a deep level of expertise in partnering with underwriting and claims functions, as well as the executive leadership required to manage and build cohesive global teams. We are confident he will build upon our strong actuarial foundation while continuing to enhance our capabilities."

Chubb appoints presidents

Chubb announced Peter Kelaher has been appointed division president of continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval but is expected to be effective Sept. 1. Kelaher currently serves as country president of Australia and New Zealand; Ben Howell will take over the position. Howell is currently executive vice president and head of consumer for Chubb Asia Pacific. In this new role he will be responsible for property and casualty and personal lines operations in Australia and New Zealand. 

XPT Specialty names new associate VP of personal lines

XPT Specialty, a wholesale broker providing commercial and personal insurance, has announced Gina Marquez as its new associate VP of personal lines. Marquez has more than 16 years of insurance underwriting experience, previously working at AmWINS Group and Burns and Wilcox, as well as with XPT's VP of personal lines, Suzette Torres.

Aon hires Thomas to lead Lloyd’s, promotes Silitonga in Indonesia

Global professional services firm Aon named Ed Thomas head of Lloyd's Capital, a part of its Reinsurance Capital Advisory team. Thomas joined Aon from his previous role as head of member services at Lloyd's of London. With Aon, he will focus on capital and capacity supporting managing agencies' growth, support new syndicates and deliver risk transfer and capital optimization programs. He has also held roles at Deloitte, Chubb, and broker The Ardonagh Group.

Aon has also promoted Marguerita Silitonga as president director of reinsurance solutions in Indonesia. Silitonga joined Aon as a senior relationship manager and treaty broker in 2020 from MSIG Indonesia.

Great American Insurance promotes Rogers to CISO of parent company

American Financial Group, the parent company of Great American Insurance Group, has promoted JD Rogers to the role of vice president and chief information security officer. Rogers joined the company in 2008 and has led its Enterprise Information Security Group since it was formed in 2013. Most recently, Rogers was a divisional SVP at Great American Insurance.

EagleView hires Kinsman to lead enterprise growth

Aerial imagery and data technology company EagleView has hired Jenna Kinsman as vice president of enterprise growth. Previously, Kinsman was chief revenue officer at Hosta.ai. She has served in insurance industry roles since starting her career in 2011, with Farmers Insurance, Enservio, Hover Inc. and Westhill.

Allianz Trade Americas announces new chief human resources officer

Barbara Martell was promoted to Allianz Trade America's senior vice president, chief human resources officer. The Baltimore-based wing of Allianz Trade announced that Martell will head the region's HR strategy and also serve as a member of the Regional Management Team. 

Prior to the promotion, Martell served as vice president, regional head of human resources business partner (HRBP) and talent management. In this role, she led the U.S., Canada and Brazil HRBP team, as well as the talent acquisition team.
