Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) has introduced Meshify Defender Sensors, which is part of its IoT device suite. The sensors work with Meshify Defender Water Shutoff software and the Meshify Protect mobile app to reduce water damage risk. Meshify is a subsidiary of HSB. Its sensors are able to monitor commercial and residential buildings and equipment for water leaks, frozen pipes, temperature changes, and humidity. Once a leak is detected, the device sends a to customers who can shut off the supply.

Nationwide is making its pet insurance products available for purchase through Walmart Insurance Services on Walmart's website. "The expansion of our collaboration with Walmart gives us another way to meet millions of pet families where they are – shopping on Walmart.com," said Nationwide pet insurance President and Chief Pet Officer Heidi Sirota. "Promoting Nationwide's pet protection solutions within Walmart's online pet care ecosystem offers a seamless experience for pet parents to learn more about managing costs associated with healthy pet ownership."

Arch Insurance has acquired Thimble, an insurtech agency that targets small businesses. Terms were not disclosed. Thimble launched in 2018 and will be folded into Arch's operations. "The Thimble team has created a best-in-class digital experience for small business customers and agents to acquire and manage insurance. We're excited about growing the Thimble platform and applying many of its digital practices across Arch to better serve our partners," says Jay Rajendra, Arch's chief strategy and innovation officer.


Lemonade Car has launched in Oregon, the fifth state where the company's full suite of products is available. Also, Lemonade's Crypto Climate Coalition,a blockchain-based parametric crop insurance product for subsistence farmers, announced the completion of its initial launch. The company says nearly 7,000 Kenyan farmers signed up for the coverage between its Oct. 2022 launch and Jan. 2023, the end of the season. Lemonade did not say how many claims were triggered, but it did say that "cash transfers were automatically triggered based on area yield data and sent directly to farmers."
