CNA taps insurtech for long-term care policyholders

CNA has partnered with The Helper Bees to launch The View From Home, a program to assist long-term policyholders to "age in place" amid the pandemic. The Helper Bees brings a non-insurance Care Concierge benefit that uses digital contact to help coordinate home safety assessments, meal delivery services, local support groups, medication management, or transportation services.

Hippo enhances claims through partnerships

Home insurance insurtech Hippo has announced two new partnerships for claims handling. claims handling through Handdii and Westhill. The company will use Westhill’s digital platform for medium to large claims fulfillment, ranging from single-trade roofing to total loss fires. It will also leverage Handdii for minor repairs like exterior wind damage, water leaks and general equipment breakdown. Hippo’s customers will be connected directly with a pre-vetted contractor or service professional to manage their repairs and reconstruction. Hippo’s program with Handdii, where contractors and service providers have an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars, is currently live in cities across California and Texas; Westhill is live in Texas. Daniel Blanaru, VP of Growth Initiatives, Hippo, says, “We’re taking a bigger role in providing a resource and solution for all things within the home, so that our clients can feel reassured that Hippo will handle the tough stuff for them. Handdii and Westhill are two partners we brought on who are pioneering the space and helping create a renewed claims experience for Hippo clients.”

Angie's List to work with Thimble

Angie's List is integrating with the Thimble API to offer the insurtech's insurance policies directly via the Angie's List platform to pros. Thimble business insurance policies can be purchased in a short time, in rolling monthly increments, by-the-month, by-the-day, or for as little as one hour. Service providers can add workers, extend coverage, pause or cancel policies directly via the Thimble mobile app. Jeremy Stewart, President of Angie's List, says, "We always recommend that consumers verify that any pro they hire has active general liability insurance. We're partnering with Thimble so that businesses who use Angie's List have access to insurance that fits their needs, immediately, so they can complete more jobs and grow their business." The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for short-term policies, according to Jay Bregman, CEO and co-founder of Thimble: "Lately, we've been servicing bigger businesses who want to keep their insurance but don't want to commit more than a month at a time. Insurance is no longer a luxury, it's a must-have for businesses that want to succeed on their own terms," he says.
